People everywhere celebrate their joys, lament their sorrows and express their love through the arts. In 1982, to help fill this universal need for expression, Bond Anderson developed the musical playscape: a permanent outdoor installation of tuned musical instruments built to stand up to the weather and designed for the durability a playground setting requires.
What Materials Are Used in the Instruments?
“Trex" brand wood/polymer lumber, post-consumer plastic lumber (Bedford Technology), child safe pressure treated lumber, “Ipe’” (a sustainably harvested Brazilian hardwood), galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, PVC pipe and fittings
The front and back of instruments with PVC resonators are enclosed with "Aquamesh", a PVC coated welded wire screen. Mallets are made from UV rated polyurethane rod, strung on vinyl coated cable and attached to instruments that need them.
We include maintenance and installation instructions in the installation hardware packets for every order.
